I. Classroom rules:
a. The Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
b. Stay in your assigned seat unless I give you permission to move.
c. Follow directions the first time they are given.
d. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
e. You are to have all books and materials at the beginning of class.
f. No talking while the teacher is talking.
II. Students are expected to come to class prepared everyday- this means they should have their spiral notebook, writing utensils, colored pencils, and glue sticks.
III. Discipline issues will be dealt with according to school policy.
III. All students can obtain a science textbook from the library though checkout. Textbooks used in class are a class set and can not be distributed to students for home use.
IV. All students will keep an interactive- spiral notebook using Cornell Notes.
IV. Homework Policy: Students will be required to write down homework in their agendas
daily. There is never not any homework -students should be studying their notes,vocabulary, and assignments nightly for homework. Keeping up with homework will enable the student to prepare for any weekly TGIF Quiz I will give on content studied. Please ask your child questions regularly to ensure they are doing their work.
VI. Grading Policy: 90-100 = A 70-74 = D
80-89 = B Below 70 = F (failure)
75-79 = C Incomplete = I
Students will be given a zero until all work is completed and turned in.
Any work that is turned in a week or more late from when it was originally due will receive a grade of 55%.
VII. This year the 7th grade Life Science students will master the following subjects and methodology:
Scientific Method Interdependence of Life
Characteristics of Living Things Energy and Matter Transfer
Levels of Organization Ecological Homeostasis
Cell Structure and Function Adaptation
Cell Processes Natural Selection
Genes and Chromosomes Fossil Records of Evolution
Organ Systems of the Human Body Six Kingdoms
Diversity Ecology
Classification Biomes
Renewable and Nonrenewable Resources
Supplies - The following list of supplies are required for Science:
Student supplies:
Colored pencils
Portable “Thumb” drive
1 hand- held pencil sharpener
Glue sticks (several to use throughout the year)
#2 pencils
2 – 70 page spiral notebooks
Students are required to have a 3 inch wide 3 ring-binder to hold spirals for all classes.
1 ream of white copier paper used for class work-given to teacher at beginning of year
1 ream of pastel colored copier paper, any color-given to teacher at beginning of year
Classroom supplies for your child’s health and well- being.
If one child comes to class ill, it tends to spread, these items are not provided by the school and will help to ensure the health of the entire class. Please send as soon as possible:
Hand sanitizer
Clorox wipes
1 box of Kleenex
1 roll of paper towels
Please buy supplies in sufficient quantities now while they are on sale at local stores and only allow your child to carry to school one of each item that will be used and save the rest for later in the year.
